Use

Rapé (pronounced ha-peh) is a traditional shamanic tobacco snuff from the Amazon. It contains finely ground tobacco and other herbs and is blown in through the nose with a special pipe. If you want to use Rapé on yourself, you need a self-applicator pipe called a Kuripe. If you want to blow the Rapé into another person’s nostrils, you need a Tepi. Below is a step-by-step plan the supplies and preparation:

Preparation

1. 1. Make sure both of you are calm and focused.
      The recipient can be in cross legged or upright seating.
      Ask the recipient to breathe through the mouth and open up to the experience.
      Hold a respectful intention. In shamanic traditions, Rapé is used for purification, healing and focus.
   2. Dosage
      Scoop a small amount of Rapé (about the size of half a pea-sized grain per nostril) into the Tepi pipe.
      Blow into your hand first to check that there are no lumps and that the pipe passes well.
   3. Administration
      Insert the narrow end of the Tepi tube into the recipient’s nostril.
      The recipient holds the head slightly forward and relaxes.
      Take a deep breath, and blow the Rapé forcefully but in a controlled manner into one nostril at a time.

   4. Aftercare
