Lactuca virosa (Wild Lettuce) – 10 Seeds

Wild lettuce, Opium lettuce, Poisonous lettuce, Poison lettuce (Lactuca virosa) is native to England, India and Pakistan (Punjab region). This herb was introduced to Europe by the Romans and used for its analgesic and sleep-inducing effects. Poison lettuce became popular among hippie culture in the 1960s and 1970s because of its slightly euphoric and relaxing effects. They compared this drug to cannabis, only the Poison Lettuce could be picked from nature for free. Wild Lettuce also has a mild aphrodisiac effect. Of course, a delicious herbal tea can be made from this. Large dose gives slight effect of opium where small dose promotes sleep/sleep. Of course, Wild Lettuce is not addictive like Opium is!

Breeding information

Gently press the seeds into the moist soil and spray with water. The seeds normally germinate within 7 – 14 days. Once the seeds have germinated move the seedlings to a nutrient-rich patch of soil with moist soil in full sun. Plant the seeds on and near between 60 – 90 cm apart. This plant needs space.

Storage advice

Store this product in a cool and dark place such as a kitchen cabinet and out of the reach of children.
